Single-order custom aerosols
Custom Color-Matched Aerosol Paint
Custom-matched industrial aerosol paint for shops, contractors and fabricators who need a batch rather than an ongoing program.

Custom-matched spray paint for a defined industrial job
A custom aerosol order starts with the finish you need and the quantity required for the job. IPD fills industrial touch-up paint into aerosol cans and offers custom labels for single orders as well as recurring programs. This page is for fabricators, powder coaters, contractors and industrial buyers preparing a specific batch inquiry.
The published single-order minimum is 24 cans. IPD also states that smaller batches may be available with a small-batch fee. There is no published fee schedule or universal price per can on this site. Describe the quantity you actually need rather than choosing an assumed pack size to fit an estimate.
What is available to specify
| Order detail | Published starting point |
|---|---|
| Single-order quantity | 24 cans; smaller batches subject to availability and a fee |
| Packaging | 16 fl oz can size, listed as 11 oz net weight |
| Case pack | 12 cans per case |
| Color reference | RAL, Federal Standard, paint chip or physical sample |
| Labeling | Custom labeling per order |
| Shipping | UPS or FedEx Ground listed by IPD; destination confirmed with the order |
Container size and net weight describe different things; the can’s nominal volume is not a promise of that volume of liquid paint. Confirm the actual supplied product on the quote and label. Likewise, a case pack is a packaging unit, not a statement that every color can be purchased in one-case quantities.
Choose the best color reference you have
A manufacturer’s coating code or a recognized color reference is a useful starting point. Include the complete identifier, not just a familiar color name. If you have a coated part or approved sample, describe its size and condition before arranging delivery. Do not send material to an unconfirmed receiving address.
Also identify the sheen and texture. A smooth glossy repair can look different beside a matte or textured finish even when the color reference is the same. Photographs help explain the object and damage, but lighting and camera processing make them unsuitable as the only acceptance reference for a critical match. See how to prepare a color-matching request.
Match the coating choice to the application
The original surface may be powder coated, liquid painted or part of a specified coating system. Include its manufacturer and product name where known, together with the substrate and service environment. That information helps separate an appearance question from a material-selection question.
IPD identifies Carbocoat 8215 as its default base and discusses other single-part chemistries by request. That does not make one aerosol suitable for every coating or exposure. If your specification calls for a particular repair material, send that requirement before pricing. The technical-document page explains which product information to request and why the supplied aerosol needs its own applicable documentation.
A single batch or a recurring program?
Choose a single-order inquiry when you can define the job, colors and quantity without setting up an ongoing supply arrangement. Examples include a fabrication project with one approved finish or a contractor assembling touch-up materials for a particular installation. These are illustrative buying situations, not claims about completed IPD jobs.
If the same request returns with every shipment, compare that process with an OEM touch-up program. The program discussion adds production-color records, branding consistency and replenishment planning. It is not necessary to make that commitment simply to ask about a custom batch.
What a useful batch quote should make clear
Ask for the proposed product, color reference, quantity, label scope, delivery destination and timing to be identified together. If you are comparing quotes, check that they cover the same requirements. A lower per-can figure tells you little if one offer includes different material, excludes labels or assumes a different order quantity.
List any special packaging or documentation needs in the first inquiry. Identify whether this is a new match or a reorder, and whether a sample or artwork approval must happen before filling. These are scope variables to resolve; this website does not assign unverified setup charges, artwork fees or shipping rates.
Review before the batch is filled
For a new order, keep color approval, product suitability and label approval distinct. A purchasing contact may approve price while a technical contact approves the repair material. A designer may approve the logo without being able to confirm the coating specification. Naming these roles avoids a general “approved” email being misunderstood.
Retain the accepted reference and the final order identifiers. If you later need another batch, send those details rather than starting again with a photograph of an unlabeled can. Changes to the original coating, sheen or application should be treated as changes to the brief, even when the customer color name remains the same.
Single-order questions
Can I buy one can?
This is primarily a commercial custom-batch service. IPD publishes a 24-can minimum and mentions smaller runs with a fee. One-can availability is not established; request the quantity you need and let the quote confirm whether it can be supplied.
Can my company name be on the label?
IPD offers custom labeling for single orders. Include your artwork and the required color or part identifiers in the discussion. See the private-label brief for the decisions to make.
How quickly can an order ship?
Request a current commitment for your specific order. Initial matching and approvals differ from replenishing an existing reference, and a requested arrival date is different from a dispatch date.
What should I send now?
Prepare the quantity, color reference, existing coating, substrate, repair description and delivery location. The inquiry form organizes those details into an email you can review before sending.
